Colorado Municipal Clerks Association
Hello Colorado Clerks!
Colorado recently hosted the 41st Annual Colorado Institute for Municipal Clerks at Regis University which was attended by 90 clerks. It was a great group of individuals that had the same goal – to learn as much as possible! Orientation was a packed room – we heard from Jim Hunt, author of “The Amazing City – 7 Steps to Creating an Amazing City”. Everyone received the book and Mr. Hunt stayed after his presentation to sign them. One of the things I remembered about his presentation was about your municipal website and how many do not include the phone number or address of the municipality on the front page. I can’t tell you how many times I run across this in looking for information. I would encourage you to check your municipal website and make sure there is direct contact information on that first page!
I was incredibly honored to present graduation certificates to 26 of those attending. One of the things I have enjoyed the past two years is contacting the graduate’s immediate supervisors and requesting them to provide a few words on how they would describe their clerk that is graduating. The responses I have received have been amazing! It has been fun to read the information and for everyone in the room to hear how much they are appreciated in their organization.
Information regarding Award and Executive Board nominations should be coming to you fairly quickly. Also – remember to register for the CMCA Fall Conference – it is our first stand-alone conference and it’s shaping up to be a great opportunity for education and networking. Around 40 have signed up already and rooms are filling up quickly! Registration information is on the CMCA website.
Keep up the good work!
